Product Description
Played at Carnegie Hall by internationally acclaimed concert pianist Margaret Leng Tan, Schoenhut's Traditional Spinet is a musical instrument of highest quality. Publicized in the New York Times, this is the only toy piano ever played at Carnegie Hall. Certain to enhance your child's love of music with its endearing melodic tones: Chromatically tuned, the lovely chime-like notes are produced by little hammers striking precision-ground, German steel music rods (versus the conventional taut wires used in full-sized models): Schoenhut's patented Learning System, with its play-by-color teaching method, makes playing simple and fun. A removable color strip fits behind the keys to guide small fingers from chord to chord. The chart also works on adult keyboards, since keys on Schoenhut toy pianos are of corresponding width. This teaches children proper "finger stretch" from the very beginning. The accompanying Songbook contains a collection of familiar tunes. This Learning System has been specially designed to build a child's confidence and develop basic playing skills. A favorite from the Schoenhut's archives. Materials: Birch, Maple and Hardboard. Songbook included. Age range: Three and up. Piano Dimensions: 19-3/4 high x 17" wide x 10-1/4" deep. Bench: 9-1/4 high x 10" wide x 6" deep. Weight: 17 lbs: **** All items have been lead tested by an independent lab and have been certified lead free***.

This piano is attractive enough to sit in your formal living room, but child friendly enough to be a wonderful addition to any home where children reside or visit often. The tone is on key and although the sound is made by bars and not strings as in a real piano the sound is pleasing. The sound it emits is not too loud or too soft. The keys are as wide as normal keys on a real piano, but the length of the keys is shorter accomodating small child sized fingers well.

The hardware to put the seast together did not fit on the two units I purchased for my Grand-daughters. The bolts are too short. Had to make modifications to put the seats together.
Should not have to do this – your QA should have found this issue before sending product to consumers.

I bought this hoping that it would work well for my 2 year old granddaughter and last. She bangs the keys along with my 3 year old grandson and it is holding up well. Actually the item is better than I anticipated.

Santa brought this for my 2 1/2 yo son. He likes it and it sounds good, for a toy, but a little “tinny” sounding. The “bench” is not that great as my son can not sit on it by himself without it falling over. It is just not very sturdy for a small child. My son loves the piano though and plays it standing up or I help him sit. I love teh look of this piano, it sits in our living room and fits in great. It looks like real furniture instead of the ugly plastic pianos.
